Jazz Band is a full week of jazz studies including performing with a big band, studying jazz theory and improvisation, performing in combos, attending jazz master classes and having the option to study privately with one of IMC’s artist-teachers. Campers performing in a combo will participate in a Friday afternoon performance, and big bands will perform on Saturday. Guitar and bass students must bring their own amps, and drummers must bring their own drumset. This program is open to students completing grades 7-12 with at least three years of playing experience. Optional private lessons are highly encouraged! Bass campers will be limited to one set of lessons.

Vocal Jazz is held during Session 5 in conjunction with the instrumental jazz program. In addition to participating in jazz choir, campers will learn vocal jazz theory and improvisation, scat singing, vocal jazz stylings, solo singing techniques, and more! This program is open to students completing grades 8-12 with a strong vocal background. A $20 USD music fee is included in the registration fee to cover the purchase of camper music. Music can be brought home at the end of the week.
